"I was a stranger and you welcomed me." Matthew 25:35
Ushers & Greeters. Our Ushers and Greeters are key to making our parish welcoming and inviting to our parishioners and guests. Their primary duties and responsibilities include greeting and welcoming people as they enter the church, helping them to find seats when necessary, providing assistance to those in need, and collecting the offering.
Greeters are volunteers who welcome parishioners and visitors at each Mass. As the name indicates, they are the first people to greet someone as they walk through the doors. They may open the door, greet them with a smile and a sincere "Welcome- we are glad you are here"! A warm handshake goes a long way. Our extraordnary greeters make our parishioners and guests feel comfortable as they enter into our churches to come worship. In addition, they typically distribute the bulletin at the end of Mass, chatting with them them as they leave, and offering assistance as needed.
Ushers are present to take up the collection and to perform other tasks as needed.
A church usher is a member of the parish who is chosen and trained to assist in the administration and organization of the service. They play an important role in ensuring that the service is welcoming, comfortable, and runs smoothly for the members and visitors. We are experiencing a shortage of greeters and ushers and are looking for parishioners to take on this welcoming role during Mass. It's a wonderful to "meet" parishioners and be involved in the Mass. Please consider being part of this ministry. Or if you have been a Greeter or Usher in the past, please consider coming back to serve once again.
