Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.” - Matthew 5:4
Bethany Grief Companion Ministry.
A New Ministry is Now Offered: Bethany Grief Companion Ministry. Grief. It’s a strong, and sometimes overwhelming emotion for people, regardless of their sorrow from the loss of a loved one. They might find themselves feeling numb and distant from daily life, unable to carry on with routine tasks while dealing with their sense of loss. Let Us Be of Comfort. If you or someone you know is experiencing a sense of loss, you don’t have to go through it alone. Our Grief Companions are compassionate volunteers who are wonderful listeners. They comfort. They support. They listen to what you are feeling and understand how you are affected. They encourage discussion. They understand that listening is more important than talking. Our Companions may have first-hand experience with the individual’s type of grief and can empathize. They understand your sorrow just as Jesus understood when Mary and Martha’s brother, Lazarus of Bethany died. Our Lord’s tenderness and kindness for Mary and Martha during their grief (before He raised Lazarus from the dead), is the basis for our ministry today. How We Can Help. Our Companions will meet you. This is a one-on-one program and not designed as a group setting. All discussions with our Grief Companions are strictly confidential. If you or someone you know could benefit from our caring volunteers, or have questions, please contact Deacon Paul DeCarlo at our Parish Office.
Volunteers. Are you Drawn to This Ministry? Our Bethany Grief Companion Ministry is looking for several more caring volunteers to comfort and listen to others. It is a ministry for individuals who have lost a loved one or feeling a sense of loss. This ministry is intended to provide pastoral care and does not replace clinical care support. Training and ongoing team support will be provided. If you are interested in volunteering for this new ministry or have questions, please contact Deacon Paul at the Parish Office.
